Jesus People

I have been thinking a lot about the days of the Jesus Movement back in the 60’s and 70s. We Jesus People had a strong belief in miracles, signs and wonders, faith, healing, prayer, the Bible, and powerful works of the Holy Spirit. We where "high on heaven" all the time!

We had limited theology, even more limited doctrine and almost no dogma at all. We where not sure of anything except that Jesus died for us because He loved us and He had a wonderful plan for our lives. It seemed that we could do just about anything through Christ who strengthened us, and often did. We were too naive to doubt, too ignorant to argue and too filled with joy to fight. We didn’t worry about style, numbers or money. We just wanted to tell people about getting saved and we trusted the Lord to give us the opportunities and open the way. And you know what? For millions, IT WORKED.

In these days of skepticism, anger, selfishness and doubt, so much of what was innocent has been lost. We have been burned, disappointed and educated. In short, we have grown up.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to find the wonder again? To be child-like once more. I would love to see us do the things we did at first, and even greater things, precisely because we have grown. It would be good to redeem the years and go forward by going back.

For all us "Jesus Geezers", just one more good run at this world. A last hoorah, if you will. After that we can leave it to the "Gospel Persons" or whoever they are now. I think they can do it; they just need to grow up a bit.

ONE WAY WITH JESUS!

Quest For Peace
Friday, 23 April 2010 13:41

You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. (Isa 26:3 AMP )

There is a verse in the word that says, "they have seduced My people, saying, Peace, when there is no peace... (Eze 13:10). This scripture portion refers to false prophets that tell people what they want to hear rather than the true word of God. It’s a word of false peace. They do this because these "prophets" know that EVERYONE is looking for peace.

The great quest of mankind is to find some peace in a mad and sinful world. We spend time, money, and in some cases, our health in a vain attempt to find what we are looking for in the same world that robs us of the very thing we seek.

A mind, stayed on the Lord, is the only mind that ever finds real peace. Oh, we might find it elsewhere, but only for a moment. The world’s peace fades fast. What we so desperately need is the eternal peace of God that does not pass away.

So seek HIM. He is there if we seek him with "all our heart" (Jer. 29:13). Remember, a heart and mind at peace is a wonderful thing. It is worth more that silver or gold.

Grace and Peace to you,

Mike

A Glimpse of The Father's Heart
Wednesday, 24 March 2010 09:55

" . . . He is simply and altogether our friend, our father –– our more than friend, father, and mother –– our infinite, love-perfect God. Grand and strong beyond all that human imagination can conceive of poet-thinking and kingly action, He is delicate beyond all that human tenderness can conceive of husband or wife, homely beyond all that human heart can conceive of father or mother."

 (George MacDonald, 1824-1905)

We are back from our ministry trip in Great Britain. There seemed to be a lot of "down time" between weekends on this past trip. That turned out to be a good thing. Susan and I had some real good space for relationship building and relationships are what this ministry is built on. We are, almost entirely, involved with those we are in relationship with at this stage of our life and ministry. These relationships not only give us the platform we need to minister from now but they also form the foundation we feel called to in the future.

I am continually amazed at how our son Brendon’s story touches the hearts of so many. Before he died, he used to say to me, " One of these days, Dad, I’m going to have a testimony." Now he does. A very powerful one and it is changing the way people view a relationship with Father God. A much needed revelation in these days we live in.

It’s vital to understand that we have a Father that loves us, no matter what, and that we have access to the power of that love any time we choose. It is not a dysfunctional love based on performance but a love that is unconditional and "covers a multitude of sin". He loves us because he wants to, not because he has to.

Thank you so much, my Abba Father, that there is always room for me in your lap. It’s what makes this dance, called life, "do-able".

"...and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, ..." (Malachi 4:6 KJV)

Grace & peace to you all!

God is moving in Florida

The Lord has blessed us with many, many salvations last weekend and all on Sunday.  Who would have thought that there were so many unsaved people in church on Sunday.  Thank you Holy Spirit!!!

Mike and I are heading out to England and Wales next week.  Please keep us in your prayers.  We want to be just where God wants us to be saying just what he wants us to say to all of the people he wants us to be speaking to.

"The LORD gives strength to his

people;

the LORD blesses his people with

peace."

(Psalm 29:11 NIV)

God's grace and peace to you!

Seeking God
Thursday, 04 February 2010 15:31

Mike

Because I believe in and love Him, I seek him in ALL things.  Because I seek Him, I find Him everywhere and in everything.  It's been the only way I have been able to survive all these years, and especially the last three months.

"Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find;

keep on knocking (reverently) and (the door) will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7 (AMP)

Starving Baker
Wednesday, 13 January 2010 11:46

Pastors, leaders, parents -

I ran across some information from a publication that I love this morning.  I feel that it’s crucially important to our spiritual health as a result; I would like to share it with you.

STARVING BAKER

“Imagine finding a new bakery.  You love going there because the baker creates new recipes, better than any you’ve ever tasted.  Soon word gets out and crowds start coming.  The baker doesn’t have enough help and ends up trying to serve all the customers himself.  Gradually you see a change.  He’s getting thin.  Very thin!  What’s up?  You decide to sit and observe.  Suddenly the problem becomes obvious.  He’s busy serving everyone else but never stops long enough to feed himself.  With food all around him, he’s starving.  Can you relate to that?  A lot of us, particularly leaders, fail to take care of ourselves spiritually, emotionally and intellectually, and eventually we end up being unable to take care of others.  And when we do read our Bible or listen to CD’s it’s always for others.  And what’s the result?  We end up busy but barren, going through the motions without taking time to feed our souls on the bread of life.  And we keep promising ourselves to do better, ‘When the kids are raised…when I go on vacation…when things slow down…when I retire.’  Solomon wrote: ‘”…They made me caretaker of the vineyards.  But I have not taken care of my own…”’ (Song of Solomon 1:6 NAS).  The only way things are going to change – is if you change them!  Otherwise you’ll simply exchange one set of demands for another.  Learn to walk away.  Jesus did, ‘After He had dismissed the multitude, He went up into the hills by Himself to pray…’  (Matthew 14:23 AMP).  Start doing what Jesus did, otherwise you’ll end up like the starving baker!

“I am the Bread of Life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry…”

(John 6:35 NIV)

The word tells us that, “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).  I can guaranty you that the enemy of God is prowling around your spiritual malnourishment right now.  Slam that door in his face and feed on the Bread of Life.

Be especially blessed today with peace and joy,

Susan Warnke

A Continuation of 12/11/09
Tuesday, 15 December 2009 13:33

This is a continuation of the 12/11/09 blog -

Mike has returned home safely and we look forward to celebrating Christmas.  But, before we sign off for the year I wanted to give you an update on Mike's last preaching trip.  Everytime he did an altar call he had salvations (thank you Lord).  It would appear that Mike is carrying a heavy anointing for salvations once again.

Pastors - please consider having Mike in soon for an outreach service.

Merry Christmas and a healthy and financially prosperous New Year to you all,

Susan

Salvations
Friday, 11 December 2009 16:59

I am so excited!

Mike resumed his preaching schedule last weekend. Up until that time he had not spoken to a crowd since Brendon’s passing. For several weeks prior to this, he kept hearing this little voice in his head telling him, "Who do you think you are? You don’t have anything to say to those people. You need to stay home and get over the loss of your son." He was a little troubled as you can imagine. A friend of ours said, "Can you imagine Mike ever being at a loss for words?" The truth is, NO.

Over the past few weeks, God has been giving Mike little nuggets of truth that he wanted to weave into a new message about sons. So..... he packed his bags and I drove him to the airport; off he went in the power of God. After all God’s Word does tell us that His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses (2 Cor. 12:9). My former pastor, when I was a "baby" Christian, use to say, "Our weaknesses are nothing more than containers for God’s strength".

Back to my story, with God’s help, Mike has crafted a new message about sons. Each time he has delivered it, many people are getting saved. Saturday night - Wednesday night. How many unsaved people are out and in church on those nights? Well, they’re there and they’re getting saved like crazy. Hallelujah!!! The LORD is raking them into His kingdom.

Thank you LORD! The sickle is in our hand (Matt. 9:37-38).

"Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm.

Let nothing move you.  Always give yourselves fully

to the work of the Lord, because you know that

your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

(1 Corinthians 15:38)

Thank you for your financial and prayer support that helps us get to the fields in need of harvest!

Be especially blessed today!

Susan

Delivering God's Word
Monday, 07 December 2009 15:09

Dear Ones,

My friend, Rob Hoyt said that there are events that take place in our lives that change things, as we know them, forever.  Once the event has taken place, the world we live in is never the same and neither are we.  We must re-orient ourselves to our new reality and let God help us discover who we have become.

On Nov. 6th, 2009, 31 days ago, my eldest son passed into the hands of the Lord.  He was 26 days short of his 40th birthday.  Jesus gathered Brendon to Himself after years of struggle with drugs and alcohol.  Brendon was at peace with the Lord but could never seem to be at peace with himself.  He is fondly remembered and desperately missed.

After a month of dealing with, what has been for us, earth shattering events, we are busy getting back to work.  We would like to finish 2009 on a positive note and roll into 2010 under a full heard of steam.  As always, your prayers and support are crucial.   Thank you all for your faithfulness.

Grace and Peace,

Mike

Our Son's Passing
Saturday, 07 November 2009 08:05

Our oldest son, Brendon, passed into the hands of God yesterday morning.  During Brendon's final week of life on this earth, we asked him, as we often did, was there anything we could get for him?  He responded, "The warm hand of God".

Thank you for all of your prayers.  This is a very difficult time for all of his family.  We take comfort in knowing that your prayers are with us and that our precious son is finally holding onto the warm and loving hand of God.

Our hearts are broken, but our faith is strong.

Banff, Elgin and Buckie, Scotland

Dear friends and loved ones:

We have just finished our first weekend of ministry in Scotland and are flyin' high.  The weekend has given us 8 salvations, many recommitments and many more at the altars desperately seeking God's love, mercy and healing.  Thank you LORD! Thank you too to all who support our work and pray for us.  We truly value you.  Tomorrow we head to Dunblane.

Be Encouraged
Monday, 12 October 2009 19:03

I have a little magazine of devotionals from Britain that, for me, is exhilarating and thought provoking. It’s called The Word For Today and does seem to be a little bit different from the same publication we have in the States.

This morning I picked up a copy from 2003 and was inspired and wanted to share it with you. I pray that you enjoy it and that you are blessed.

"If your faith’s on trial today, rejoice, you’ve got a great Lawyer - Jesus. His Word to you is: ‘Don’t worry about how to answer the charges...I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply!’ (Luke 21:14-15). Could it be that you’re asking God to move mountains He won’t move just yet, because He wants to give you grace to endure instead of a strategy for escape? He wants to demonstrate His strength through your weakness (2 Cor. 12:9).

"Are you asking, ‘Lord, how much longer do I have to go through this?’ Remember, when God doesn’t deliver you immediately. He’ll be your thermostat in the furnace. If He hadn’t already been regulating the heat, you’d have burned up long ago, right? Each time you reached breaking point and thought you couldn’t take it another day, God put a hold on the enemy and said, ‘Cool it! Give him a little grace today.’

"Paul said, ‘We don’t even know what we should pray for...but the Holy Spirit prays for us...and the Father...knows...what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us...’ (Romans 8:26-27). You keep coming through because you’ve got an Advocate in heaven, pleading your case. Your ‘Lawyer’ was on the job during all those sleepless nights and depressing days. You’re here today only because of Him. And you can trust Him to keep on keep on defending you! When this trial’s over, you’re going to come out like gold! That’s a promise! (Job 23:10)."

To those of you who live in Scotland, England and the south of Wales, we are about to embark on a month of ministry in your midst. Hopefully, we will be able to see you in person.

May God richly bless you until we see you in person,

Susan

Texas Ministry
Tuesday, 22 September 2009 18:49

Wow!  I am so excited, we experienced over 136 people at the altar during our time of ministry in Texas.  26 of them were salvations, the rest were recommitments to serve God.  Hallelujah!  God is so good!  Thanks to all who helped us get there.

Now, it's off to Tennessee to do a little "administrative" work there with Companions of Christ;  I'll be preaching one night to the community.  Please pray for us.

The Blessings of God
Wednesday, 16 September 2009 15:58
Mike_in_No._Ireland
I was just thinking ... According to scripture, the blessings of God are new every day. The word also says that each day has troubles of it's own. I guess that's why the blessings stay fresh! To deal with each days new trouble! Never a stale answer from the Lord. How cool is that?!!! ... Love to you all.
